Paramillo del Quindío

Alta Montaña Responsable
3 Días / 2 Noches – 16 km aprox.

General description

This high-altitude trek offers a direct connection to the páramo ecosystems and the geological history of the ancient Quindío volcano.

The route aims to help participants understand the environmental, cultural, and ecological importance of this territory while facing a demanding physical and mental challenge. Through this experience, Quinto Elemento promotes responsible tourism, the conservation of high-Andean ecosystems, and the strengthening of ties with the rural communities that inhabit the area.

The Paramillo del Quindío Expedition is a high-altitude trek within Los Nevados National Natural Park that leads to one of the most iconic peaks of the ancient Quindío volcanic complex (4,750 m).

The route traverses high-Andean forest, cloud forest, and páramo ecosystems, culminating in a summit characterized by volcanic rock formations and a unique chromatic richness found only in the Central Andes.

It is a physically demanding expedition, with long days, constant weather changes, and exposure to high altitude. The summit is not guaranteed. Safety always comes first. This program is designed for people in good physical condition with prior mountaineering experience.

It involves:

  • Long days of hiking (7–12 hours).
  • Progressive altitude gain.
  • Exposure to variable weather.
  • Uneven and wet terrain.
  • High cumulative physical exertion.

This is not a recreational hike. It is a high-altitude trek.
Operation under principles of minimal environmental impact within Los Nevados National Natural Park.

“We do not operate mass treks. We design responsible expeditions where the summit is a goal and conservation and a safe return home are our priorities.”

Our approach combines:

  • Real technical safety.
  • Applied environmental education.
  • Low-impact operation.
  • Integration with the rural economy.
