General description
Discover the natural landscape of the Cocora Valley, a natural paradise famous for its lush greenery and home to the tallest wax palms in the world, which reach heights of 45 to 60 meters. This is the ideal place for nature lovers seeking peace and a connection with their surroundings.
On this tour, you will explore the cloud forest landscape, discover indigenous tombs, and marvel at more than seven species of hummingbirds that inhabit the Acaime Reserve.
The tour begins in the Cocora Valley, passing by a trout farm and venturing into the cloud forest. You will continue walking alongside the river, where you can enjoy waterfalls and the lush vegetation of the high Andean forest. Then, hiking along the central Andes mountain range, you will observe the Cancel tombs, vestiges of the pre-Columbian Quimbaya culture. Next, you’ll arrive at the Acaime Nature Reserve, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of hummingbirds in their natural habitat (we’ll take a 30-minute break). Then, we’ll head towards La Montaña farm, climbing to the summit to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view. Finally, we’ll descend into the wax palm forest, surrounded by these giant palms with a spectacular view of the Cocora Valley. This landscape is an unforgettable experience that will allow you to discover one of the most beautiful landscapes in Colombia.
