Salento El Cedral
Alta Montaña Responsable
3 Días / 2 Noches – 40 km aprox.
General description
“We don’t operate mass mountain tours; we design responsible expeditions where experience, safety, and a safe return are the priority.”
Our approach combines:
Real technical safety
Applied environmental education
Low-impact operation
Integration with the rural economy
This trek connects two emblematic regions of the Coffee Axis through a high-mountain route that traverses multiple ecosystems: Andean forest, cloud forest, and páramo (high-altitude moorland).
The route begins in the Cocora Valley, ascending gradually along traditional trails to mountain farms such as La Argentina or Buenos Aires, where the first night is spent.
On the second day, the trek enters Los Nevados National Natural Park, reaching altitudes of nearly 4,200 meters above sea level, crossing páramo ecosystems with high-altitude conditions. The day ends in the Berlín sector, where the second night is spent.
The third day begins the long descent to El Cedral Reserve in Pereira, traversing cloud forest and areas of high biodiversity. It concludes with 4×4 transport back to the city of Pereira.
This is a demanding trek with constant weather changes and significant accumulated physical exertion. Operations are conducted under principles of minimal environmental impact.
